Delivery of Email Notifications Delayed For 2 to 3 Days

Email notifications for topics I am subscribed to (i.e. “Watching”) are taking ~ 3 days to arrive in my Inbox. This has been happening for several days, and this problem is unique to the CCleaner forum.

For example, Nergal posted a reply on 30-May-2026 @ 5:14 PM <here> in bobmcl2010’s topic “No longer loads properly”. The image below suggests the email notification mail was composed 2 minutes later on 30-May-2026 @ 5:16 PM, but the notification just arrived in my Inbox today on 02-Jun-2026 @ 4:33 AM CDT.

NOTE: The same problem occurs in the Notifications section of my user profile. A count of new replies in topics I am “Watching” are not updated for 2 to 3 days in my profile.

Hi @Laurence_CCleaner :

It’s been almost three weeks since my original post and it’s still taking days for email notifications to arrive in my Inbox when someone replies to a forum topic I’m watching. Is anyone at Avast /Piriform looking into this?

I hate to say it, but I don’t experience this delay, sometimes gets hidden in my known spam folder, but I don’t think it’s that but maybe your Email Service Provider is giving a longer look?

However, the site is built on a social media platform and fairs poorly for our purposes

Hi @lmacri,
As with Nergal, I don’t experience the same issue.

After looking into this, there are a few things that can contribute to this kind of delay, and it’s likely a combination of factors on both the sending and receiving sides:

On the forum/sending side: The CCleaner Community runs on Discourse, which queues outbound notification emails. If the platform’s mail queue experiences a backlog, notifications can be held and released in bulk — sometimes days later. This would also explain why the delay appears in your profile’s Notifications section too, as you noted.

On the receiving side: Email providers (and corporate mail filters like Microsoft Exchange/Outlook) increasingly scrutinise bulk notification emails from “noreply” senders. It’s possible your provider is briefly holding the message for spam/content analysis before releasing it to your inbox, a process sometimes called greylisting. As Nergal suggested, this would be unique to your mail setup, which is why not everyone experiences the same delay.

Hi Nergal:

Sorry for not replying earlier, but the email notification for your 23-Jun-2026 @ 3:57 PM reply <above> just landed in my Inbox this morning on 25-Jun-2026 @ 5:01 AM. The email notification for Laurence_CCleaner’s 24-Jun-2026 @ 3:15 AM reply <above> still hasn’t arrived yet.

These long delays for email notifications to arrive in my Inbox don’t happen for other forums I am registered with that use “noreply” senders, and the problem just started about a month ago. These notifications are being sent to my @live.ca email address (i.e., to Microsoft’s Outlook webmail server at Outlook ), so if Microsoft is holding up emails sent from “noreply@community.ccleaner.com” then I suspect other users who registered in this forum with a Microsoft email account are having the same problem.

If I’m the only person having this issue then I’ll just try to find a solution from my end (e.g., by adding “noreply@community.ccleaner.com” to my Safe Senders list or changing the email address in my CCleaner forum user profile).

Just FYI that the long lag time persists for all email notifications sent from the CCleaner forum, even after I logged in to Microsoft’s Outlook.com webmail site and added “noreply@community.ccleaner.com” to my Safe Senders and Safe Mailing Lists.

For example, I am following vincenzoarmini’s 03-Jul-2026 topic Software Updater incorrectly detects OneDrive Insider version as outdated and Laurence_CCleaner’s post # 4 <here> was created 31-Jul-2026 @ 10:53 AM

… but the notification email for that post # 4 didn’t land in my Inbox until 02-Aug-2026 @ 08:54 AM, even though the email header confirms the notification email was generated 31-Jul-2026 @ 10:54 AM.

@Nergal , @Laurence_CCleaner :

Do either of you use a Microsoft email address as the primary email in your CCleaner profile (e.g., @hotmail.com, @outlook.com, @live.com, etc.)?

@Laurence_CCleaner :

I’m assuming it’s on your forum/sending side, since I receive email notifications almost instantly for several other tech forums I post in regularly that use a “noreply” sender for their automatic notifications (e.g., Norton, Dell, AskWoody, Malwarebytes, Intel, Mozilla, etc.). I prefer to use the same Microsoft @live.ca email address to register for all these tech forums because I have a rule set up for my Microsoft email account so that any incoming email from a tech forum is automatically moved into a custom “Forums” subfolder I created under my Inbox.

To test I added a second email address provided by my ISP (Shaw Communications) to my CCleaner forum profile and set this @shaw.ca email address as my primary email. This solved the problem (i.e., email notifications from CCleaner / Discord were received shortly after a topic I was following in the CCleaner forum was updated) but this isn’t an ideal solution since I want emails from “noreply@community.ccleaner.com” to be sent to my Microsoft @live.ca email address so my custom “Forums” rule works correctly.
