Deleted files

I run CCleaner regularly, the latest time being this morning.

But I've just visited www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm and selected option 36. Once I ran that program, it said it found 6134 deleted files on my computer.

How come CCleaner hasn't got rid of them for good? And how do I now get rid of them once and for all?

Probably system restore, duplicates, etc. There are programs out there that will do it, but make sure you backup. Last time I tried that it took me a week to recover. Does Kelly tell you what the files are, and where?

Yeah, it lists all the files. A lot of seem to be cookies and logos etc from web pages I've visited.

I know this is a big question, but do you think I can delete all those files?

Do you have the advanced options checked in the cleaner? If so, I believe I would continue as is if there are no problems. If not, do some clicky and a lot of crap will zap.

Just got around to Kelly's korner, and what you are looking at is files on the hardrive that have not been written over. The files will remain on the disc until randomly written over as space is needed for new files. Unless you have something really sensitive, ignore it.
