I have just realised that when I type some text, and I want to delete it, I can just highlight and press the space bar ( no other key).
I always thought I had to use the delete key with highlighted text!

Hey you're right! I didn't know that Hazelnut!
I remember reading about that in a Windows 98 tip book from ages ago when I first got a computer. It's a handy tip.
and you can just double click a word to select the whole word.
all you're doing is replacing the highlighted text with a space " ".
can do that with any key, so if i typed "blah blah blah" and highlighted the middle blah and pressed "a" i would get "blah a blah"

Also, if you use control + backspace, you delete by word. That's probably my personal-most-used shortcut. I also use some of the Window keys, i.e., Windows + D shows the desktop, Windows + E shows My Computer, etc.

Ah thats a cool one.
I always just highlight and then delete though. I can never seem to make keyboard short cuts a habit.(except ctrl+t in firefox.)
