Defraggler worst one and slowly kills drives

I cant fathom why this prigram comes up trumps on a lot of websites:

HDD Wesern Digital HDD 2TB-cpicked up as HDD - takes several hours to defrag and resukt is same or worse or fractionaly better 1-4%

SSD Samsung EVO 860 250GB picked up as a SSD - takes h=a ehile to optimize andmakes no difference to stateof drive

HDD Sagate Barracuda 2TB (256Mb cache) picked up as an SSD tkes for ever to defrag n never changes or gets worse

this windows install is only 2 weeks old Win10Prox64 / 12GB DDR3 @ 1600Mhz / Intel Motherboard / nVidia GTX 650 / Intel 3470 @ 3.6Ghz

all drives are on SATA3 (600Gps) ports one of which is a red eSATA port

only a supplemental - now i can imagine why defraggler means such a hdd would be an ssd... 256 mb cache is more as standard - its a "hybrid"

perhaps for the next defraggler-version it should be scanned for large cache-size so that defraggler can it sort out from "ssd"

perhaps this is an result of pagefile and hiberfil.sys directly related to the size of installed RAM - defraggler cant defrag the pagefile and/or hiberfil.

example: with 8 gb ram -> 8 gb pagefile and 6,25 gb hdd-space (and with fragmentation - two or more pieces... and the % go up)

perhaps take the "file list" for an defrag! it works faster (click on all files in the list that was found by defraggler and "defrag checked")

but only for your hdd :-)

I've answered with an explanation of why Defraggler may actually fragment some files on the other thread that you made. 

Basically it's because the mode you are using with Defreggler is used to <u>consolidate</u> files and not to <u>defragment</u> files.

Consolidating files on a disk to save disk space is often wrongly referred to as defragmenting, (even by Defraggler) see my link in your other thread.

When defragmenting modern hard drives try to find out by looking at their documentation/specifications usually in PDF documents on the manufacturer websites such as Seagate, Toshiba, Western Digital what exactly is the drive technology, i.e.; CMR, PMR, or SMR. If you're trying to maintain any drive that uses SMR (which were sold unlabeled to consumers) they can have a serious performance penalty since they'll perform their own internal maintenance that the end-user has no control over, and trying to defragment such a drive could take a very long time.
