DeFraggler Hickup

Sometimes Defraggler aborts after defraging for a time.

Example:

I've just completed a fresh install of Vista Hm. Basic, + all updates, + drivers, + apps, + utilities (including Defraggler/CCleaner) on a Compaq CQ60 - 250 G HD, 2 G RAM.

I started Defraggler. It stated that the drive was 24% fragmented.

Defraggler ran for about 1.5 hrs..

It aborted - stating that the drive was still 19% fragmented.

On other occasions with other computers (regardless of OS versions, hard disk size or RAM amount) Defraggler will run it's course and finish it's work with 5% or less fragmentation.

Hmmmmm...?

Why?

Hi Patrick,

It would be great if you were able to get some debug logs of this for the devs to look at.

Info on how to do this is here

http://www.piriform.com/docs/defraggler/troubleshooting/running-defraggler-in-debug-mode

Same here. Running Windows 7 64bit, 16Gb RAM with two 64Gb SSD drives in a RAID 0. PerfectDisk 12.5 is able to defrag this drive down to 0% defragmentation. Defraggler does not and leaves my drive about 29% fragmented. I have tried adjusting the setting but this does not change the results.

Please advise,

Niles

Are you saying that you are defragging your SSD drives?

By which she means, you should NOT be defragging a SSD drive as it WILL cut down the lifetime of the drive
