Defraggler defrags much faster now. But... ?

Hi!

I'm defragging my 1 TB HDD with Defraggler.

It is slow. I tried these steps together at first for speed-up:

Disabling volume shadow thing for NTFS.

Disabling benchmark after defragging

Excluding pagefile, hiberfil etc. files.

Excluding moving big files to the end of drive

All of these have improved defrag speed but it was still slow.

Then today I tried something else: Closing system restore tool of Windows 10.

Now it is much much faster.

So here is the question: Is disabling system restore points of Windows 10 for defragging, right thing to do ?

Seems like no problems so far.

- Makes perfect sense. Because Windows needs to keep track what has been changed (files, etc.) and put that in the (next) System Restore Point. All that info allows Windows to revert the changes that have been made when one installs a program or an app.

- Question: did the amount of free disk space shrink as a result of using Defraggler ? People have been complaining about that in the past.

Okay. Thanks for help. I'll consider this in the future when I defrag my disk.

I have an SSD and windoes 10 - curious if anyone figured out this system restore point debacle.

I never have Restore Points turned on, so never been an issue.

@sethm - you aren't defragging your SSD are you?
