hi,
at some point ccleaner started to save all my registry backups to my desktop
how do i restore the original default settings for registry backups
(without messing anything else up)
note: I can’t find the original folder (possibly because I changed computers…
thanks
When CCleaner asks to back your registry entry changes before a clean (it only backs up the changes and not the full registry) it also asks you to specify where to save them:
It will remember the last place that you saved them.
The desktop is handy, but you can save them anywhere else.
If you have done a standard install of CCleaner then it’s folder is “C:\Program Files\CCleaner”.
If CCleaner is not asking you save backups of registry changes then check this setting:
Note that we do not recommend running the Registry Cleaner tool on a regular basis.
It is not a cleaning tool, it is a tool for attempting to fix a computer that already has problems.
It will not speed up your machine in any way, and will only save a few kB of disc space.
In the worst cases running any Registry Cleaner regularly can break your computer.
You only have to read these forums to see people who have broken their computers by using registry cleaning indiscriminately, unthinkingly, or just not knowing that they shouldn’t be using it as a regular cleaning tool.

Thank you! Got to admit I’ve been cleaning my registry weekly (forever!) but… it’s never too late to learn something new.
