Computer Stupidities

Operating Systems

Most computer users understand that you need an operating system to use a computer practically,

even if it is not clear why. But many users don't.

o My Friend: "What's your operating system?"

o Me: "Linux."

o My Friend: "You better uninstall it!"

o Me: "Why?"

o My Friend: "The government uses Linux to look through your computer and see your every move. They use it as a security camera into your world."

o Me: "Sure...."

o Friend: "I heard about this thing called 'Linux'."

o Me: "Oh, I use Linux."

o Friend: "What is it?"

o Me: "An operating system."

o Friend: "Like Firefox?"

o Customer: "How much do Windows cost?"

o Tech Support: "Windows costs about $100."

o Customer: "Oh, that's kind of expensive. Can I buy just one window?"

* Woman 1: "What is that little trash can on the screen?"

* Woman 2: "My son says that is call the 'recycle bin'. He tells me when I don't want a Word document anymore and I delete it, it really goes in there."

* Woman 1: "Why in the recycle thingy? Can't you just erase it?"

* Woman 2: "Oh no, Word wouldn't work for very long if I did that, I would run out of blank pages."

* Woman 1: "Why?"

* Woman 2: "Because it cleans the words off the pages, then sends the blank sheets back to Word so they can be used again. That's why it's called the recycle bin."

HAHA.

Now that is what I call keeping it simple. I wonder if Al Gore had something to do with this ?

There is Simple and then there is "simple".

* Me: "So what do you think of the Y2K problem?"

* My Coach: "The what?"

* Me: "The Y-2-K problem. What do you think about it?"

* My Coach: "What is Y2K?"

* Me: "Y2K, you know, the year 2000 problem?"

* My Coach: "Oh yeah, I know something about that."

* Me: "So do you think that this is going to be a big problem?"

* My Coach: "Of course not! If Bill Gates can write Windows 98 all by himself, then he's going to be able to fix the problem on time."

I haven't forgotten!!!

First, you "create" something everybody needs. Then you try to find different ways to tax the heck out it for people who use it.

I just want my "carbon footprint credits" to go to my account and not theirs.

I constantly "recycle" all my bits from the "Bit Buckets" on my PC.

:) davey Waste not, Tax not!!!
