Compact Database for Firefox application tab

I use the latest version of FF and am trying to find out exactly what the compacting database option is.

I'm wondering if I need to tick this option every time I clean or not, Pros/cons??

From what i believe it is to do with urlclassifier3.sqlite And from what i'm told it contains no private data, It's for security between FF and google. Deleting it will only redownload it.

The correct size for the file is approx 55 MB. Though it can get bigger so needs to be compacted, Once!

I would not bother having this checked.

File location has moved.

C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>

If it is not to do with urlclassifier3 then my apologies.

if it does the same thing as VACUUM command that mozillalinks.org suggested, and Vacuum Places Improved addons, then apparently it is not needed anymore in Firefox 4 and above.

I don't know because three tools I use including CCleaner still vacuum those SQLite files.

If I use Host Files protection against Google, and only search with Yahoo,

will it then be gone forever after I remove that 55 MB of dead-weight ?

maybe they haven't kept up to date with latest Firefox changes

Maybe, however one in particular vacuums 10.1MB after using Firefox.
