CMOS boot sequences...

Is there a suggested, universal boot sequence one ought to use? I just went in and changed the boot settings for CMOS, and I was wondering if anyone has heard of a suggested sequence that users should use...

Thanks you for a response.

Universal boot sequence? I don't know about that but it definitely help if you put the HD first because it helps load faster a bit. Most PC now has specific key if you need to boot from CD so you can put that one at the bottom :).

I see... Thanks. :)

Anyone else have some information?

Perhaps this will help you

My preference is to set it to boot from floppy A: then CD-ROM then the hard drive.

The reason I like to have it set up this way is to enable booting a floppy with a basic operating system ( OS ) that I can run FDISK to set up hard drive partitions then run FORMAT and then boot an operating system CD to install it.

I do this without the system being physically being connected to an Internet connection as the system is most vulnerable during the OS install installation without a firewall.

I then insure that the OS's firewall is activated and begin the process of installing the OS Security Updates.

Thats a great page. :)

Thank you guys for your info.

I never knew your OS was most vulnerable to viruses and things while the OS is being installed. Thanks for the page, 1984. I am going to book mark it. :P
