There is a setting in Chrome that allows background applications to run after Chrome has already been closed. Go to Menu, Settings, Show advanced settings... uncheck "Continue running background apps when Google Chrome is closed".
And you have a very old version of CC.
unless needed, get the latest and see if that helps as well. (Yes yes, welcome to the new GUI)
Pretty sure @hazelnut's link will do it for you but CC, since your version, has changed how it cleans some areas, like index files and such.
Thanks for these suggestions.
The first did not work. I've signed into chrome and when I go to settings the only choice under advanced is advanced sync setting and Account sign-in details are out of date. Sign in again. when I click sign in again and put my info in it starts to works but nothing happens. see the two attached files.
I did upgrade my copy of cc and then I was able to run it with success.
I got the previous message to close chrome and it asked if I want cc to close it, I chose yes and then I got another message that it has to be forced to close. I did that and chrome closed and cc finished the process.
so this seems to be a way for me to continue using cc to the clean up.
I would like to have any suggestions as to why I'm not able to get into the advanced settings and why chrome is asking me to sign in again.
Thanks for any additional help!
If you scroll right down to the very, very bottom of that setting page in your screenshot, does it not say ''show advanced settings''?
Well hazelnut you are great. I thought I scrolled all the way down to look but I guess I didn't.
Thanks again for this help. All problems relating to my topic are now fixed, including updating my ccleaner program thanks to mta.
no worries, glad you got it sorted.
