There is a guide from Microsoft on how to delete system restore points that have been created in the past:

I read that guide and there is an easier way to do it. Right click C:/ drive or what ever drive you want to remove the restore points for. Than select "properties". Than "disk cleanup". Than select "more options" tab. There is an option to remove all restore points except the most recent. Done.

I actually have disk cleanup pinned to my start menu for this exact same reason. It would be great for CCleaner to have the ability to remove old restore points but unfortunately I can't see it happening.
