CCleaner freezes at 26% every time. I can’t terminate cleaner.exe in Task Manager, and I have to restart my PC by shutting it down manually at the tower because a normal restart doesn’t work. Version 6.39.11548
Are you using Health Check or Custom Clean?
If it’s Health Check then it may be either one of the updaters that can’t get a web connection to a server, you could try going offline before using Health Check.
Or use Custom Clean instead.
Note that although many of us are still using it (and it is still the official ‘sunset’ version for Win7 and Win8.#) v6.39 is no longer supported and will not be getting any updates.
Some features in v6.39 will stop working as weblinks and storage directories change over time.
I use advanced cleanup, a field under health check. I had the same problem with the latest version, so I reverted to the last working version.
Could you post a screenshot of when it is getting stuck?
That may help us work out what the issue could be.
PS. Also if you could tell us what Windows version and whether you are using an Antivirus other than Defender.
