When I click on Internet History in CCleaner, my settings in Chrome (ie extensions, etc) are not retained.
Is this the intended behavior of cleaning the Internet History? What exactly does Internet History mean?
In fact, is there an explanation somewhere of all the CCleaner settings/switches for applications? I notice that I often create problems with various apps by using ccleaner so would like to get a better handle on what I should and shouldn't be cleaning.

This is not the intended behavior.
What versions of CCleaner and Chrome are you using? And are you using winapp2.ini (ccenhancer?)
Due to the timing and symptoms of your issue, it is likely you need the latest version of CCleaner. Google promoted Chrome 32 to stable status a couple of days ago (1/14), and you were probably upgraded like most of us. In my case, I didn't have the latest and greatest CCleaner and had the same issues as you. I obtained the latest CCleaner, did some testing, all okay now.
