Hello,
I recently changed my PC and I wonder ifI have to delete my ancient PC from my account so I wont be charged for my ancient computer + the new one
Have you already bought a new CCleaner licence for the new machine?
If not then it’s easy to transfer your existing licence to a new machine.
If you have already bought a new, second, licence then you can get them merged together so that you don’t lose the time you have paid for.
If you let us know which applies then we can tell you how to do it.
Thanks for the reply !
I used my license key on the new PC and it worked, and I thought it would be seen as 2 pc being used by the CCleaner servers or something like that. I’m ESL and I may have misunderstood the “your license is for one pc only” part of the EULA. Since I’m not using the other computer anymore (infact, it’s the same computer but I changed my HDD and it’s a new windows installation, but I guess it counts as a new one), I dont want to be charged for 2 PCs.
That’s fine, You haven’t actually changed machines.
It’s the same machine but with a new drive fitted, so you are still only using CCleaner Pro on one machine.
People change drives and reinstall Windows all the time, it’s still the same machine it’s just been modified/upgraded a bit.
(You would have to change the whole motherboard for it to be considered a new machine).
Even if it was a totally new machine, so you had two machines - CCleaner do realise that people will change machines and so do allow a single PC licence to be used on more than one PC for a short period when you are swapping it from one machine to another.
You would normally then remove the licence key from the old machine by uninstalling CCleaner Pro from that one. You could put CCleaner Free back on the old one if you like.
However as you still only have CCleaner Pro installed the once on one machine that’s fine.
It’s only if you install a 1-PC licence on more than one machine at the same time for more than a short time, or are repeatedly using that 1-PC key on different machines, that that will be noticed and action taken.
(If/when someone does try to do that then it’s a breach of the licence terms and that particular 1-PC licence will get cancelled altogether).
