why is the CCupdate still trying to run after uninstalling Ccleaner?
delete the content of the CCleaner folder. i agree that that exe should have (in this meer user’s opinion (mine)) been removed with the uninstaller. maybe the process was live when you uninstalled it. but the installer should kill the process.
I would love to delete the entire folder but it is not there.
in task manager where does it show the exe for CCleaner update is running from.
i agree with nergal that ccleaner probably was running when you tried to uninstall it and so it didn’t uninstall properly.
you could try reinstalling ccleaner and then uninstalling it, again. that would be a simple solution, if it works.
Is “trying” a clue here?
Is it actually running or just ‘trying’ to?
Have a look at Task Scheduler (just open the Start menu and type it, you will get the option to run it).
It may be that there is still a scheduled task set but it has nothing to run because you have removed the updater when you uninstalled.
If that is the case then delete the scheduled task.
For example this shows the 2 triggers to run the updater check, daily and on startup, but if I had removed the updater then it wouldn’t have anything to run:
it does not run it is just trying, i found it in the task scheduler and deleted it, i only noticed it because cylance was calling it out.
