CcleanerPro stopped working mid-cleaning cycle. Closed it. Ccleaner will not open. CcleanerPro will not uninstall using Apps and Features in Windows10 on my HP computer.
When I selected uninstall CcleanerPro the window pops up for uninstalling. near immediately after that, there is a message as follows:
could not load C:\programfiles\Ccleaner\Ccsystem.dll
The uninstall program will continue to "run", but not run, as far as I can tell... indefinitely. Went back to the computer to find it still had not been uninstalled twenty minutes later.
I already had gone to get my license key to reinstall, and tried that but it froze
Had an issue a while back with CcleanerPro's Kammo telling amazon prime video I had a VPN connection when I am using ethernet. not sure if kammo is throwing a monkey wrench into the works but am thinking of deleting that.
As far as I am aware 'Ccsystem.dll' is a very old file that has not been used by CCleaner for 15 or more years.
So I'm not sure why the uninstaller would even be looking for that.
Unless of course you somehow had a very, very old version of CCleaner installed, or had remnants of a very old one on your computer somehow.
Anyway:
The first thing to do is to Restart your computer, not Shutdown but 'Restart'.
(Restart clears more that Shutdown does, in particular it will stop that failed uninstall if it's still trying to run and preventing you reinstalling).
Then try opening CCleaner again

If CCleaner still won't open then download the 'advanced' Slim installer from here (3rd one down) and double-click it to reinstall a new CCleaner over the top of the 'broken' one.

You may need to enter your key again after the reinstall so it's good that you have a note of it.
Let us know how that goes.
