CCleaner

I searched the forum for a bit but could only find a couple of posts from 2005 and 2006 six, asking about a logging feature for CCleaner. Since its been 4-5 years since those posts, I was hoping that CCleaner now has a logging feature, since people obviously want it. But, I couldn't find anything in my searches.

Am I overlooking something, or does CCleaner really not have a logging feature? I can't imagine it would be hard to create, since all we'd really need to know is the before and after data.

Please keep in mind that I'm referring to the command line options. When using the GUI, I know I can just copy and paste that data into a file, but I need to automate this information and parse it later.

If there's not a built-in feature, does anyone know of an alternate way to obtain this information? I doubt it, but I would be remiss if I didn't ask.

Thanks

Nope, there's no logging feature. The only thing that's available is what you already know about 'the copying bit' of what's displayed.

Keep in mind, that were a logging feature to exist, it would pose a security risk because of it detailing all the sites that were visited, etc. Cookies to your secret XXX sites, etc. OR XXX pop-ups & things.

CCleaner is meant to improve privacy, not become a utility to spy on people. :)

Peace

There's a nice thing called opt-in settings :)

That and... it wouldn't have to log that info to begin with. I think that most of us who want the logging feature only wants to know how many files were scanned and deleted. Nothing more.

Having a logging feature, i.e.; statistics of how much junk files and invalid registry data was removed would be nice and entertaining to a degree so long as it were thorough, and could go back to show years worth of statistics of how much CCleaner has removed, etc.

And just think of the cosy glow you will feel when you suddenly gain an extra 1 GB of free space,

simply by deleting the log ! ! !
