Hello 69Bruce
If you are unsure about cleaning in the "issues" area, say yes to making a backup when it offers you the option in a popup dialog box..
Then in the unlikely event of there being problems because of the clean, you just right click the backup and choose merge, it then restores the issues. The backup is stored by default in my documents.
Have a read here for more info

How does this "merge" feature work?
When CCleaner stores a backup of the registry is it a backup of what was deleted or is it a complete backup of the entire registry before anything was deleted?
What I did was check off each section at a time and saved a "registry backup" each time. (just trying to be safe). That means that I have about 5 of the registry backup files.
Now I notice problems like not being able to open my CD drive with F10, etc, so I was going to use this merge feature hoping that I can restore something that was mistakingly deleted.
So does it make sense to merge each of these files one at time starting from the last one?

CCleaner just creates a backup of the files it removes, not the whole registry. And yes the best way to restore them is start with the last one and work back (note if you've used any other reg cleaners this may not help anyway). If you only ran the Cleaner and issues section I'd be surprised if CCleaner caused your F10 problem but worth a try I suppose
(You didn't remove anything from the 'Startup' or 'Uninstall' areas in the 'Tools' section did you???)

Well, I originally thought it was a windows update problem as I updated my windows about a month prior to using CCleaner but really didn't notice any problems until after CCleaner. Then when I saw other people having similar problems I had to assume its a CCleaner issue. (see "I want my computer back" thread). (I also had problems with other keyboard functions like volume and brightness bar graphs not appearing anymore on screen just like that other person). And no, I didn't remove anything from the Startup or Uninstall areas in the Tools section. Im assuming its something to do with maybe "fixing" missing shared dlls that weren't a problem to begin with. not sure.
Anyway, thanks for the info. I'll try merging each of the backup regs and see if it helps.

If it doesn't work come back and create a new topic describing your problem, I'm sure someone will have a solution for you
