Ccleaner Won't Delete .exe or .dll files!

Hi, so I've been having this issue for some time and I thought it would go away and I've also tried to fix the problem by searching here and there but nothing yet so far... So basically after I analyze and run cleaner it gets stuck on .exe or .dll files that are in any of my temp folders. For example one of them was MPENGINE.dll or Fix Transfers.exe (I think? From Adobe) stuff like those it would just get stuck on and never delete them no matter how long I've waited. Usually I have to remove them manually and without those it all runs smooth and fast and I have advanced overwrite (3 passes) on. Also idk if it matters but I'm using windows 8.1 as OS. Please let me know if anyone know a solution to this also please ask any questions if needed. Thank you.

Hello zxcvbnmhelp1 and welcome to the forum. One thing you should look at first: open CCleaner, then click "Options" and then "Advanced". Look at the second line and see if "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 24 hours" is checked off or not. Uncheck it to see if these files get deleted or not. Also try right clicking CCleaner and select "Run as Administrator" to see if this makes a difference or not.

I remember Nergal posting on this issue a while back. It seems Win 8.1 likes to store many more file in Windows Temp than the previous versions of Windows, and cleaning out these files takes quite a bit longer. If he spots this post maybe he can shed a little more light on your problem.

Thank you Derek891, I have tried your recommendations but sadly non have worked. basically any .exe or .dll files I would have to manually delete every time. Btw is there a way to send a msg to this "Nergal" person? And thanks again for your help.

Do you think the developers for ccleaner knows about this issue? Or you think they have a plan to implement it in the future versions? What are your thoughts on this? Thanks.

If those files are in use they can't be cleaned

Downloading the freeware utility unlockeror nirsoft's open files view will allow you to see what's keeping it from deletion, or you can right click the item in ccleaner's analysis and exclude it if you're sure adobe wants or needs it

As far as any experience I've had with more stuff in temp folder, aside from Internet Explorer's "Protected Mode" storing cache/history there, I've no idea what he's referring to...but then again I've no idea what I had for lunch yesterday or my own age half the time so maybe I did say something about temp and 8.1 but don't remember.
