Hi, Everybody
This is my first post here, Ive download CCleaner V2.01.507 and pressed Run Cleaner after that i noticed Windows Help And Support would not work. I checked the Services, it has stopped and greyed out. When i press Start i get the following message," Could not start the Help and Support service on Local computer Error 126 The specified module could not be found " I instaled the help file from Windows XP Pro. CD, but still dont work. I remenbered i had the same problem with my other PC a while ago but i cant remember how i fixed it. Does the Cleaner make Auto. back up ? Just wondering if other members had the same problem, Thank You.
Try this (no guarantee it will work though):
- I don't know off hand, however you may need the Windows install CD inserted into your CD drive.
-
Download, and install Dial-a-fix (it's freeware).
-
Run Dial-a-fix and click Tools, it's the hammer icon.
-
Highlight the entry Reinstall Help and Support service, then click GO.

Is this Software safe to use in the link, it list's a few problems the Software can cause?
Dial-a-fix should be safe, it's a very well trusted utility, and has regularly been recommended on these very forums to fix a host of s**t that can and does go wrong with Windows. It's made and maintained by a PC technician who used to frequent these very forums. The warnings on that page I'd think are for PC's beyond repair, such as faulty hard disks, corrupt Windows registry, etc.

I noticed in Dial-a-fix there's also another option in Tools for Help and Support if you scroll down called "Reset Help and Support service." Which one you'd actually need to use (referring to my first post listed above) I don't know, however reset sounds like something I'd personally try first myself.

Thank you for your suggestions, i tried all above none of them worked for me. I tried to delete and reinstall the help files through the command prompt but thats not working either. I might have to live without the Help and Support Service i think, Ta.
You could try the Kelly's corner fix listed here

Thank you for that Hazelnut Kellys-korner worked fine. I had to delete and rebuild the Help and Support files. Thanks again, take care. ![:)]()
Glad you are all fixed up now ![:)]()
