CCleaner was indescriminate

It wiped all passwords, despite the appropriate spaces being unchecked:

--autocomplete form history

--saved passords

--network passwords

Which OS? CCleaner version?

What passwords are you talking about?

Win, v3.16.1666 (64-bit)

Unchecked were that I was talking about --

--autocomplete form history

--saved passords

--network passwords

Do you mean browser passwords eg. IE or Firefox? Or email pw eg. Thunderbird or Outlook?

Which Windows?

You don't mention cookies, which makes me wonder, are you keeping any?

Log in details for web sites are also kept in cookies, which you will need to keep to retain the log in information.

Hope that helps, and welcome to the forum by the way. :)

As DennisD said, some websites store passwords in cookies (eg. these forums).

It wiped all passwords, despite the appropriate spaces being unchecked:

--autocomplete form history

--saved passords

--network passwords

Why don't you use the cookie filter to keep the cookies you want? Firefox used to work with saving CCleaner forum passwords, but since they changed the way the handled things, I have not been able to log into piriform without setting CCleaner to save piriform forum cookie.

This might be a more reliable option, instead of unchecking the options in your dialogue boxes.

Go to your cookies option, & select your FaceBook, CC forum, etc. that you want to keep.

As to the network passwords & autocomplete history, I am unsure on that. But you can use CTRL + SHIFT + DEL key to invoke Firefoxes cleanup utility, then checkmark the time range, as well as options you want eliminated.

That may keep your autocomplete history, so why don't you try that way?

but since they changed the way the handled things, I have not been able to log into piriform without setting CCleaner to save piriform forum cookie.

Who is the "They" in this sentence it is not clear. They=Piriform or they=firefox
