Hi @dmt,
With CCleaner 7, we made a technical shift: CCleaner now runs as a Windows service instead of a regular startup app. This change supports new features like Performance Optimizer and Software Updater, and helps improve overall stability and performance.
Because it’s running as a background service, it no longer shows up in the startup list you could previously toggle in the UI.
We understand this is a change from how things worked before, and we’re here if you need help adjusting to the new setup.
I disabled CCleaner service but still got icon in systray and app running.
if you block the CCleaner service you can only do disk analysis and cloud drive. while @Laurence_CCleaner said that’s the new startup mechanism disabling it should (at restart) stay dead, concerning it isn’t maybe there are other mechanisms
That’s bad: install crap cleaner and get background service. Crap for cleaning crap.
Time to move on. Thanks for service.
Bluntly that is a horrible change and is made worse by the fact if you end those tasks but later want to run a scan or what not CC7 only allows disk analysis and cloud drive even should you execute CC7. You literally have to restart your computer to get the program to start its own components back up as it is too ineptly designed to do so itself.
Actually if you are seeing only disk analysis and cloud drive, it means the ccleaner service is not running. Open services.msc from windows start search and make sure ccleaner 7 service is started and set to automatic
Hello,
I have purchased a subscription for CCleaner Version 6. Then Version 7.0 was forced upon us. I do not like to complain, but CCleaner Version 7.0 should have never been released. The App is very User unfriendly and does not have a smooth program flow anymore like Version 6 had. I understand that upgrades for Apps are a necessity, but Version 7.0 is a very terrible upgrade. Nothing really works smoothly anymore, the App hangs at times and does not do a reliable job of keeping the computer automatically clean anymore when Windows starts. It is always in your face when having to run it manually at Windows startup. Cookie- and registry management have become terrible too which were the real highlight of Version 6. It almost seems like that people did not know what they were doing during the development of Version 7.0. Where was technical oversight from management in the development of Version 7.0 to make it an outstanding improvement instead of it falling off the cliff backwards? I’m so disappointed. I wish that Version 7.1 or 7.2 will be an improvement of Version 6. Please do completely away with this awkward Version 7.0, bring back Version 6 for the time being and start over. I develop databases, have a high end computer, W11 and have used CCleaner for two decades- until now. Thank you
It’s already available to roll back to:
So there’s actually no way to remove that icon from the Systray?
New version should “improve overall stability and performance”…
That’s the biggest joke! Just compare the Uninstall panel in cCleaner 6 Vs 7 : In version 6, I have all my applications (more than 100 on 6 PCs) displayed in a few seconds.
In version 7, you have to clic twice (in case you’re dumb) and it took almost a minute to have the same result as version 6.
I see no benefits upgrading to version 7, it’s a 100% downgrade in terms of reliability, ergonomic and performance.
I might be rude to read, but I’m feeling a little upset of a software that was good and became a nightmare.
I’ll give it a few months to see if the developers solved most of the problems, but I suppose I’ll check for another program in 2026.
