In ccleaner options>advanced what do you have ticked there?
hazelnut, I don't think he can get into the program to check from what it sounds like. Would cleaning out the registry or changing some registry values help?

I wouldn't really like to advise people to tinker with the registry until we have tried other options.
Just wondering if it was running minimized to the taskbar and was hidden.
I see no window and no CCleaner icon in the info tray.
Not sure if Piriform has developed it's own little registry cleaner for their products but if such a thing existed, that might be the easiest route if blacky is not comfortable playing in the registry. Also, would "CCleaner.exe /AUTO" run in the background without having a icon in the taskbar? That could be the problem. Are you running CCleaner from a shortcut blacky? If so, how about trying to run it directly from the directory it was installed to.
when I try to run CCleaner I can see the process in the task manager consuming 4 MB of RAM, but I don't see a CCleaner window.
This happens at least since version 2.12. The OS is Windows XP SP 3. It works on another machine with same OS and same CCleaner version.
Uninstalling and reinstalling hasn't helped.
As Hazel says there is an checkbox in Options\Advanced that when CC is minimized it shows an icon in the systray and disappears from the Taskbar. You just double-click the icon to show it again. Does this icon show?
The fact that you say Uninstalling and reinstalling hasn't helped. Is that a total uninstall or just a reinstall? If you uninstall CC then all your settings are deleted from the registry. If you are using the ini file then that may get deleted. If it doesn't delete it then move it to another folder. The next time you install CC you won't have any settings so it should be seen in the Taskbar and work as normal.
