I’m running CCleaner on an M1 Macbook running Sequoia (15.0.1). I never removes the history from Chrome. I’ve uninstalled/reinstalled the app, everything is up-to-date, but still nothing. I don’t want to buy a license until resolved.
Thanks for the reply. No to both questions; I don’t stay logged into Google nor have sync turned on. CCleaner is just not removing anything history-wise on Chrome.
Thanks for the note. I am closing with Chrome > Quit Google Chrome, then running CCleaner. When I bring up the browser and history afterward (⌘ Y), the full list is still there.
Do you have Chrome (or it’s extensions) set to run in the background when closed/quit, or the ‘Fast Startup’ (pre-loading) option set for it?
Any such kind of background running or pre-loading can prevent CCleaner from fully cleaning a browser.
Also - If you are using Custom Clean then are you also clearing the ‘Windows Web Cache’?
Yes, MS have quietly decided that they want to know whatever websites you visit in any browser - so they now make their own cache of it all.
(Of course it’s for your convenience, not so they can gather more data about your browsing habits for marketing etc.).
I’ll check the plugins, etc. To clarify, I only see this happen on a macOS machine (Apple Macbook). CCleaner runs as it should on an Windows machine I’ve deployed it on.
