Ccleaner reads wrong operating system

Hi all,

I have Ccleaner professional and have Windows 10 OS Home 64 bit installed. Unfortunately my Ccleaner Pro says I have Windows Vista installed and will therefore not allow me to update to latest version. This is odd as this laptop has never had Vista installed on it ! Assume this is a hang over from installation on a previous machine ?

Any advice on how to clear the flag or whatever is causing this will be much appreciated

Stay safe all

What do you mean by ''hang over from installation on a previous machine?

Hi and thanks for reaching out ?

When I first started using the free version of Ccleaner it was on a laptop with Vista as OS. So, I figured that when I got my new licence key recently that somewhere in my account was a flag that said what OS I had and had not been updated in some way. I assumed that when you installed the Pro version it would read the system you had installed (as Speccy does and shows the right system).

Well, that's what I was thinking ?

Cheers

Well you don't have an account when you use the free version.

What happens if uninstall the version you have, restart your machine, and then download the free version 5.65 from here

https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/builds

If it installs okay you can just register it with your key by opening CCleaner..Options and at the top it will say ''Upgrade to Pro'' Press it and enter your key.
