I almost re-installed everything until i checked what got put to sleep and noticed copilot was put to sleep. I woke 2 instances of copilot up and my Office apps all launch now. How do I stop this behavior of Optimize
Performance Optimiser shouldn’t put anything to sleep unless you click the ‘Sleep’ button for it, or click ‘Put all into sleep mode’.
However I just checked mine on this machine and see that MS365Copilot has indeed been put to sleep.
Which seems seems odd as I don’t even have MS365 on this machine.
Checking further MS365Copilot has installed itself 2 days ago:
Again odd as the only Windows Updates I have showing for that day are 2x Windows Security updates.
PS That isn’t the ‘main’ Copilot which hasn’t been installed here.
Checking further I found quite a number of complaints about MS365Copilot installing itself on Windows 10 with no notification to the user.
I’m not sure just what is going on here but MS365Copilot can be uninstalled if you don’t want it.
No guarantee that MS won’t sneak it back on again later though.
Why PO appears to have put it to sleep automatically is another question?
Microsoft 365 Copilot is a Windows Store app that in most cases is disabled by default right after installation (sometimes before the first launch), so it has nothing to do with CCleaner Performance Optimizer. This can be checked in the Windows Task Manager.
CCleaner Performance Optimizer only shows this app as disabled, because it is disabled (but by Operating System).
Performance Optimizer shouldn’t show things that have been disabled, only what Performance Optimizer has put to sleep itself.
Since posting above I have also noticed something odd with Performance Optimizer on a brand new Windows 11 laptop that I finished setting up yesterday.
I have queried PO’s current behaviour with the staff.
