CCleaner Professional has to force close Edge Chromium - Why?

For some time now I have noticed that before performing a full clean CCleaner Professional has to force close Edge Chromium before performing a “full” clean. CCleaner and Google Chrome - no problem. I have checked Edge settings and can confirm “Continue Running Background Extensions and Apps when Microsoft Edge is closed” is disabled. I have tried enabling, closing Edge, then opening Edge, disabling and then restarting my computer. No joy. Any ideas for a non techy person?

But have you also disabled ‘Startup Boost’?
If not then Edge will be pre-loading in the background.
See this article about it, which includes how to enable/disable it: What is Startup Boost in Microsoft Edge? | Microsoft Edge

Quote:

When you close your browser, startup boost does not disengage. The feature will essentially respawn itself and run in the background again, ready to launch the browser when you need it to.

PS. Even if you have previously turned it off check again, Edge has a habit of turning Startup Boost back on during updates of Edge.

Thank you so much. Disabling start up boost certainly worked. Will watch out for it turning itself on again. Your interest much appreciated.
