Ccleaner Professional 5.24.5839 'stuck' in taskbar (W8.1)

Hi all,

I've just installed the latest update on my Win 8.1 system, and for some reason after the update I have Ccleaner pinned to my taskbar. I did not place it there, so can only assume that the installer has done this.

The problem is that I cannot now remove it from the taskbar! When I drag it from the taskbar to remove it, a menu pops up asking me if I want to 'pin it to the taskbar'! (see attached image).

Any quick fixes for this one?

Thanks for any help.

Dave

Do you have monitoring turned on?

Can you 'kill' Ccleaner using the Task Manager?

and throw in a reboot for good measure if you haven't already.

could just be having a bad hair day.

thank you Hazelnut and mat for your prompt replies!

Yes I do have monitoring enabled, and yes I did manage to Kill Ccleaner using the Task manager which also caused it to disappear from the Windows Taskbar.

I hadn't done a restart since the update (only a cold boot) so have done this also and the problem now appears to be solved!

thank you both very much for your prompt assistance.
