Just got an email that an update was available for my CCleaner Pro. When I open CCLeaner and click on the update button, nothing happens. If I download CCleaner Pro will that work and I don't have to pay for it again?
Not sure why you saw that, it just worked OK for me here.
Could you try again; it may have just been a glitch in your connection.
Come back if it's still being a problem.
Just tried it again. Same result.
OK, still not sure why it's not working for you.
Just to check- v5.79.8704 is the latest version, which version do you currently have?
If you have an older version you are clicking on 'Check for updates' in the bottom right corner?
But no worries, there are other ways to update.
Download the 'Slim' installer from here:
https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds
Once downloaded double click ccsetup579_slim.exe to install CCleaner v5.79.8704.
It should pick up your currently registered Pro licence automatically.
If for some reason it doesn't then go to Otions>About and 'Upgrade to Pro' by entering your registered name and licence as asked and then clicking on 'Register'. (So you may want to make a note of them before updating - Options>aAbout>License Information).
You don't have to pay for updates if you already have a current license.

Downloading is always free - it is the subscription that unlocks the Pro features that you need to pay for. If you ever need to reinstall CCleaner Professional (or put it only a new computer), you can get the link from here: https://support.piriform.com/hc/en-us/articles/204043844-How-to-register-and-activate-CCleaner-Professional or directly from https://www.ccleaner.com/go/get_ccpro.
If you have Automatic Updates switched on (Options > Updates > Keep CCleaner updated automatically from the CCleaner console) then CCleaner will update itself within 12-36 hours of the new release being announced, or after you next restart CCleaner.

Interesting. I rebooted the computer yesterday and when the home screen came on, CCleaner was open and said the latest version gad been installed. Didn't know you had to reboot the computer to do that.
You don't normally have to reboot for a CCleaner update to install.
Still not sure just what is going on for you, it's not ususal, but as it installed during a reboot it could be something to do with your antivirus or firewall settings? (Just guessing).
Good to hear that it's now updated.
