CCleaner popup notice overstates by several factors of 10 the size of data available for cleaning.

I recently downloaded and installed the latest version of ccleaner, 5.47.6716. Twice the popup window has appeared telling me how many GB of data is ready to be cleaned up. I did not write down the numbers but in both cases they exceeded the storage capacity of my computer. Most recently it told me 10 billion GB was ready to be cleaned. I am using the 64 bit version with Windows 10 fully up to date.

Can you post a screenshot of the window when it says this?

What browser do you use?

Do you have monitoring turned on?

If you use Windows Disk Cleanup does that also say you have that amount to be cleaned?

This could be related to the issue reported on 03-Oct-2018 in dstaggs' thread CCleaner Disk Analyzer - reported file sizes are large and wrong.

Here is an example of overstated size

If you change the way the results are shown to the ''old way'' does it still show the same high amount? (Options ..advanced)

I don't find a setting for change the way the results are shown to the ''old way''

What build number of CCleaner are you using?

Open CCleaner

Left hand side select Options (the cog)

Then select Advanced

Where is says at the top ''Cleaning results level of detail'' select Advanced Report.

Close Ccleaner, open it again and try a scan again and see it you get the big amount.

Build 6911

I have changed to advanced and reduced smart cleaning size before notification

I'll let you know when I get the next notification
