CCleaner not reporting correct browser in popup message

Why does CCleaner for Windows popup messages keep telling me that it is cleaning up browser related files for Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer when I don't use either one of those browsers?

Windows and certain apps use edge or ie to run.

To expand a bit on what Nergal said:

Quite a few apps, and Windows itself, use those Edge and IE temporary areas as a convenient location for their temporary files.

Why make a new storage area for temporary files when those are already there as standard?

(In fact Edge still stores some of it's temporary files in IE's temporary storage areas).

So even if you never use those browsers other things will be filling those areas with temporary files.

Thanks. I sort of suspected it might be something like both of you outlined. Just something I have been meaning to ask about for a couple of years.
