CCleaner not deleting cookies

CCleaner 5.37.6309 . firefox 57.0.3.

In CCleaner I look at options>cookies, and see a long list of them. Some for sites that haven't been to in over a year. Firefox has always been set to not accept 3rd party cookies, and except for allowed cookies, keep for session only. "Show cookies" shows only 5, the ones on allowed list.

CCleaner can't seem to delete these cookies. they appear to delete, but when refreshing the list, they are back. Firefox icon appears on bottom of window for each cookie indicating that they from firefox.

In CCleaner multimedia setting, adobe flash is checked, so that should take care of flash cookies. Besides, until v 57, when Firefox trashed most of my addons, I had an addon to not permit flash cookies.

In CCleaner, for all browsers, 'cookies' is checked.

I have gone into profiles and made sure all were deleted except 'default' and the currently used profile.

Where are these cookies stored? Why are they there at all? Why won't they delete?

no changes.

fire up Task Manager and double check no firefox.exe processes are still running.

in Firefox, Provacy & Settings, Site Data, what is listed under Settings.

and try Clear All Data while there.

Site data shows 2 sites: weather.com and facebook.com. I clicked "clear all data" .

no difference, same sites show in CC.

btw: I posted about this on Mozilla forum. Several replies indicated that this is a CC problem. That CC has stored a list of cookies and keeps displaying it. That the cookies in fact are not really in Firefox.

no response? piriform is admitting defeat? that ccleaner can't handle firefox cookies?

On two separate occasions several years ago CCleaner would display that there were a few cookies in Firefox for me, I put them down as being some form of ghost that only CCleaner could see because when looking through the FIrefox settings no cookies were found, and no other cleaning program detected them either. Every now and then someone reports something similar.

thanks for confirming this strange behavior. Can be classified as a bug. Pirifom hasn't been able to correct it, apparently. I'm sure people waste quite a bit of time dealing with this misinformation. I know I did.

CCleaner 5.39.6399 FireFox

Beginning today CCleaner began completely skipping Internet Explorer Cookies...both when I click "Analyze" so of course when I "Run Cleaner". I checked online and found debugging instructions which I followed carefully, but my computer will not accept the path provided so I'm unable to debug CCleaner. What's going on?

despite the age, have you read the above posts, they may still be relevant in things to try.

what is this debug path you speak of?

what have you tried so far?

what's your OS?

is your issue with Firefox or IE? (you mention FF in your first line and this is/was a FF thread)
