The recent documents always retain a shortcut (I found it today). I ran a search on a document I wanted to delete it from my desktop. It displayed all the files with the file name mysearch* and then displayed the file and a shortcut for the one file I wanted to delete. The file had been saved as another file type and renamed to the desktop (same file name). I have been manually cleaning the Taskbar Properties (right-mouse click ) for a long time, ever since I found out that it makes no difference if the Recent Documents box is checked or unchecked, you still have to use the Clear List button when the letters are black. Press the button and the button flattens to grey (no black letters). Today is the first time I discovered a shortcut in a directory file list though. Do you think this is because of saving the file to the desktop or a different kind of bug?
The setting is found by right clicking the Taskbar on the Windows desktop, select Properties, the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties window opens, click the Start menu tab, customize button, advanced tab, List my most recently opened documents (check box) Clear List button). I installed the new version and there was no difference.
