I'm using CCleaner v3.22.1800 (64-bit) on a Win 7 SP1 system. I've just done a registry check and it has reported that the file extension .dvddata is unused. This is wrong; I have three files with this extension. Although this is a relatively minor glitch it has eroded my trust in CCleaner somewhat. Comments?
Without searching the forum I think that this is caused by no application being associated with this extension. CC does not read all the files on the disk to see if any exist. If you associate this extension with an application the message should disappear.
If you double click a *.dvddata file then Windows will either automatically launch the "associated" executable to process that file,
or it will NOT do so but may allow you to choose a program.
My *.PDF extension is unused because I have not INSTALLED a PDF reader,
Instead I unzipped a PORTABLE PDF reader and I simply launch this reader first and drag/drop any *.PDF file to it
Unused File Extensions in the past caused some worries from what it was reporting as "invalid." Like any registry cleaner the one in CCleaner can misidentify something which you can very easily exclude by right clicking what is listed in the registry cleaner and choose exclude.
Ah, I understand. Thanks for the replies.
