CCleaner mainpage seems misleading.

While I understand that your website doesn't claim to remove spyware at all, and your software does nothing of the sort, I believe people are getting the wrong message about your software.

Several of my friends and family are convinced this software removes spyware and is better than spybot.

I think the main website should have, perhaps in caps, THIS SOFTWARE DOES NOT INTENTIONALLY REMOVE ANY SPYWARE OR MALWARE.

Not trying to downplay your software or anything. It's great for huge caches when people use IE, or for removing temporary porn.

I get what your saying, but its not really our responsibility to say what CCleaner doesn't do.

Its made to remove temporary/junk files and thats what the main page says.

I understand why your family may think that though. CCleaner is mentioned a lot of the time with cleaning spyware because people use it to clear their temp files which very well may be infected.(so I guess it removes spyware in the temp files...)

Personally I don't think its a big deal to add that to the main site but then it could turn into a bit of an annoyance in the future because maybe someone wants us to put on there that CCleaner doesn't defrag your hard drive, or make your hard drive last longer, or fix your broken ram, ect.

Thats just my opinion anyway and the only one whose opinion really matters is MrG. :D

Thanks for the speedy reply. Nice and civil.

Yeah, I didn't think you'd care much, but I was just putting the issue forward. Peace :D

I actually think it should be easily understandable by reading the very first paragraph on the main site page http://www.CCleaner.com/ that it isn't a malware remover as nowhere does it say such. Although via Winapp2.ini I suppose it could be made to target very specific files, although it's an unlikely course for dealing with malware that could be anywhere on a system.

How people can think it's a malware remover I don't know especially when this is the the first readable paragraph:

CCleaner is a freeware system optimization and privacy tool. It removes unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. But the best part is that it's fast (normally taking less than a second to run) and contains NO Spyware or Adware! :)

lol@ "or for removing temporary porn. "

i always give CCleaner to my newb mates when sorting their pcs/laptops out,and always say "and if ur watching/downloading porn, always run this after"

the amount of porn traces they leave on their pc is so funny, some strange sites they visit
