CCleaner is still busy with something else

I have had this message , “CCleaner is still busy with something else, and been stuck on this for over 24 hours. I am not able to run the cleaner at all - 11/14/2025

Running windows - CCleaner Professional subscription.

How does this get resolved?

it’s a bug, not everyone sees it.

For now the workround is to stop the running CCleaner7 service then start it again, - but it only works for one run of Health Check in CCleaner7 and so you have to do it each time.

You can stop then start the service in Windows “Services” or, possibly easier, just do a “Restart” of your computer.

You can also go to the uninstall of CCleaner and it it gives a Restore option. This works once but next time ends up with the busy message again. This bug is not fixed in the latest upgrade.

I just had it for the first time myself and think that I found an easy get-round.

I simply opened Custom Clean then went straight back to Health Check and it was no longer “Busy”.

That did not work for me but Custom Clean works itself. I upgraded to 25H2 Windows 11 and when it restarted CCleaner was no longer busy. It was busy again after one run. Even the latest CC upgrade has not fixed this irritating bug.

Problem seems to be with Windows 11. My two Windows 10 machines have no problem.
