CCleaner is not finishing

Not sure if I posted this in the right place. CCleaner has not been running for me. I am able to analyze but it runs slow. Then when I get through that and go to run cleaner it is also slow and won't go passed 1% it has even ran all night. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and still the same thing. Any ideas how I can get it running again?

Which OS & CCleaner version? Have you tried "Run as Administrator" when you launch CCleaner?

Do you have Secure File Deletion (Slower) ticked under Options/Settings? How about Wipe MFT Free Space?

Depends on how large your disk is, how much junk there is to be cleaned, where CC is apparently stuck, and what crazy options you've chosen.

If the run appears to be stuck in temp internet files or the recycler, then you can empty those using your browser or the recycler. Shouldn't be any faster, but sometimes CC can get stuck on a corrupted file.

If you're using secure file deletion or wipe free space etc then don't use anything more than one pass. If you want a reason search this forum or Google.

Don't run secure file deletion and wipe free space together. You will be securely deleting files and then wiping the space again, which is even more work. Run secure file deletion as a standard option, run WFS once a month or now and again, as you see fit.

Huge amounts - gigs -of data do take a long time to clean. If you have gigs to clean do it in stages, and keep away from that WFS.
