CCleaner is deleting my professional software

Hello everyone,
I am using Windows 10.
I asked CCleaner7 (latest version) to clean up my workstation, as suggested. It deleted all duplicate files, etc.
The problem is that after all the phases, when I wanted to restart Solidworks 3D CAD software (which is very expensive) and eDrawing from Solidworks as well, well:
1°) they no longer work
2°) it tries to reinstall itself but cannot find the source (normally an .msi file).

So how can I restore the previous situation?
I must say that I am a little angry that CCcleaner, which is normally a trusted software programme, has caused this problem.

Other software programmes are also affected, such as Greenshot, an image editor. However, the old versions of Excel, Word and PowerPoint are working.
In short, I am completely lost.

How can I access the hotline?
Kind regards

PS I have generated the support file

Ouch, I believe that I know exactly what you have done - I have been warning people about it since it became apparent that the Disk Analyzer / Duplicate Finder in CCleaner7 had changed from the previous tool - and was now dangerous if run carelessly.

It now finds ALL duplicate files by default, there are no filters to the scan.
It also has a ‘Batch Select’ that allows you to select duplicates en-mass for deletion.

The combination of those two things means that with just a couple of unthinking clicks you can easily and quickly delete hundreds of NEEDED System File and application file duplicates.

Which in turn means that your computer and apps will stop working properly.

I do not understand why/how the developers did not realise that the combination of those two changes make the Tool as it now stands an accident waiting to happen in unwary hands.

(In my opinion the new Registry Cleaner is also too dangerous as it now stands).

Having done the damage you will now need to repair or reinstall the Windows System and repair or reinstall any affected apps.

Id suggest getting Window back in full working order before repairing/reinstalling any apps.

As modern CAD software such as Solidworks is subscription rather than bought outright then I would contact Solidworks for help with reinstalling it.
Same with any other apps that have been affected.

You best bet is if you have made a full system image backup with Macrium Reflect, Acronis, Aomei, Easeus, etc. that will put your System and app back exactly as they were.

Failing such an image backup you will need to do the repairs or reinstalls manually:

PS. I do strongly suggest that once you have things back to where they should be you start making regular system image backups. Most techies consider them essential, particularly if you have expensive softwares and important files.

Thank you for your responses.

I have searched, but the .msi file that would allow me to reset Solidworks is no longer on the computer.
This means that I will have to pay my supplier to reinstall Solidworks.

I haven’t done a full system backup in a long time because when I’ve had rare problems, IT technicians have been unable to restore the computer to its previous state.
I will only use CCleaner to clear my browsing history and nothing else, and the same goes for Norton, which always wants to sell me gadgets for this or that with no real added value. I automatically back up my work files with Synback on a 20 TB external drive.
Thanks for your help. I’m going to go cry in a corner while I wait for my Solidworks supplier’s verdict!

Have you contacted Solidworks themselves for help?

I’ve always found them very helpful whenever I did.

TBH though it has been around 11 years since I last talked to them.
(I don’t do much CAD now, despite my forum username, and use AutoCad 2000i which I did purchase outright back in the day).

Yes, thank you, I contacted them and they should send me a quote. Last time it cost me $500, but it was effective.
See you next time, Autocadien.

See you later.
