CCleaner interfering with Apps Startup in Windows 11 Home 24H2! [Solved - Performance Optimizer in use]

I have been forced to uninstall CCleaner 6.31 because it is incompatible with Windows 11 Home 24H2. On logout and restart, CCleaner is re-writing the App Startup preferences in Settings, Apps, Startup and as reported in Windows Task Manager Startup tab. When I uninstall CCleaner everything works fine. Re-installing CCleaner causes this problem.

This is a MAJOR bug!! Please investigate and DO something about it, otherwise I am DONE with CCleaner. It is UNUSABLE as is! And don’t give me the usual stupid shit to try. I’m NOT stupid. I’m an Electrical Engineer with >40 years of experience. I know what I’m talking about. I’ve been using computers since the first PCs were introduced.

I’m telling you this is a MAJOR BUG in CCleaner 6.31 - you NEED to FIX IT! It’s not MY problem, it’s CCleaner’s problem!

My guess is that you are using the Performance Optimizer to put the affected apps to ‘sleep’.

IF/when you do that it will change the scheduled tasks so that the selected apps will stay ‘asleep’ next time you Restart or Shutdown/Reboot. ie they will not start running in the background again.

That is not a bug, it is the expected behaviour of Performance Optimizer - if you use PO to put apps to sleep then you want them to stay asleep even if you Restart your machine.
Otherwise you would have to put them to sleep again everytime you restarted.

If you don’t want that to happen then:
Check what apps you have put to sleep, wake them up again, and don’t put them to sleep again.

Thank you! I HAVE been using that function. I will wake everything and try again.
That would be a workable solution for now. I appreciate the Reply!
Putting programs to sleep, as SUGGESTED by CCleaner, causing this is STILL an issue, but one I can work around.

Great, if you do that it should clear your issue.

We know that the Performance Optimizer can sometimes cause issues for MS Office users if they put Office to sleep. (Sometimes it gets lazy and won’t wake up again when the user goes to use it).

Always remember that things are your choice, what suits others may not suit you or the way that you use your machine.
Just because CCleaner (or any other app) suggests something it doesn’t mean that it’s best for you, or that you want to do it.
It’s just a suggestion after all and your choice whether to do it or not.

You shouldn’t really need to use PO to put background apps to sleep unless your RAM is getting full and so your machine starts to slow down.
That should only happen if you have 4GB or less of RAM, and/or if you have a lot of applications open at once, or maybe if you have a lot of browser tabs open.

You are correct about choice and you are wise. Your solution worked 100%. All good. Thank you very much. I appreciate it, nukecad!
