CCleaner has randomly put programs to Sleep and some I can't wake up

For the past few days I’ve been wondering what the heck I’ve done wrong to my PC. Even doing the Windows Repair to see if Microsoft can fill in any gaps. Steam, GOG, Rockstar, Nvidia App and a whole list of others just wouldn’t load when double-clicking. The only when I could get them to load was right-clicking and selecting “Run as Administrator”.

Tonight I discovered why, my CCleaner Professional had kindly put them all to sleep in the Performance Optimiser. Now I know I haven’t done this, I like Steam and I certainly don’t want it to stop.

However, now some of these don’t want to Wake Up! GOG for example, I click Wake Up, it does for a micro-second and goes back to sleep instantly. I’ve clicked Scan Again, but no joy. Multiple programs I want to use are being put to sleep and I can’t wake them up.

Is this a known issue? Can I easily fix this? Any help here would be brilliant.

Nobody else has reported the same happening. (at least not yet).

Have you tried the ‘Wake up all’ option?

Just in case: are you using any 3rd party Antivirus, Security apps, etc.?

Which version of Windows are you running?

I am having the same problem. I have tried clicking on Wake up all, and the programs briefly disappear but then they are put back to sleep. Using the wake up all worked on quite a few programs but not all of them. LibreOffice is one in particular that is refusing to wake up.

No 3rd party antivirus etc. Win 11
