ccleaner has jammed my laptop?

I used the ccleaner for the first time. The scan was very slow but successful. After repairs it said to reboot. It then seemed to jam. I manually turned the laptop off to restart it. When turned back on microsoft windows page came on but then went to a blue page where it says in top left "please wait......" Has been like that for more than an hour. What to do?

After reapairs it said to reboot

CCleaner does not do repairs nor ever prompt to reboot AFAIK.

Well I downloaded and paid for the programme from this website and thats what it did. Perhaps I should use the term 'cleaning' rather than repairing???? Is there anyone who can actually provide some advise?

i agree with Winapp2, i never had CC ask for a reboot.

it finds, it deletes, simple as that.

but for your prob, i'd be wanting reassurance my data is OK.

i would start the PC in Safe Mode (pressing F8 at startup).

if that works, then core Windows services are fine and it's some extra software causing you grief.

in Safe Mode, go into MSCONFIG and see if you can untick anything you don't need (this is usually everything except your AV)

reboot the PC normally and see if it starts, hopefully it will.

check your data, do a backup (never hurts)

personally i would uninstall CC, reboot and make sure my system was working the way it was before the problem.

(go back into msconfig and retick whatever you want to start each time the PC starts)

then redownload CC, making sure you get it from the Piriform site.

i've taken some assumptions with your skill set, if something needs explaining please post back...

Did you run the registry cleaner at all?

Ahh, good point Winapp2, which reminded me.

i meant to also add in my post to try reverting to a previous System Restore point to cover just such a stuff-up.

(cause i'm guessing you didn't backup the registry before hand)

Thank you I'll try your suggestions. Thanks for taking the time to give some ideas

please post back - good or bad

also, if you still need help, knowing some system info may help.

PC specs, CC version, Windows version, hair colour (just kidding)

Also, if you've resolved something, let us know how. it'll help us help people in the future :)

CCleaner requesting a restart sounds wrong.

I hope you didn't get duped.

If you did pay for the program from Piriform, you are entitled to dedicated help from the Piriform team.

Edit: Even if you got duped, the members here will help you fix it.

I think ?? you can start here for paid support:

and click on "Submit a Request" at the top, then enter the email address you gave and the password you were assigned (not your email password).
