I installed CCleaner in my spouse's laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit (Japanese language).
When the software was run, it was taking a very long time. I opened the program and ran it, and noticed it would hang at 2% of the internet history. I was running the latest version. After I discovered this, I removed the program.
I thoroughly like the program and have been using it for many years now.
Does anyone know why it hangs the way it was doing?
If the computer hadn't been cleaned before perhaps that's an explanation. If CCleaner was having to remove thousands of browser Cache items ("Temporary Internet Files"), History, etc., that could possibly make it seem like it had hanged/frozen and couple that with an installed antivirus software scanning everything CCleaner was attempting to remove.
One possible workaround is to clean the browser(s) using their own built-in cleaning tools, and then run CCleaner after that. Also make sure you don't have any of CCleaner's secure delete modes enabled as that takes significantly longer for it to clean.
