Yes, by strict terminology it is no bug, but factically is a bug.
You can call it how you want but when your software is dependent on another software and that another software changes in the way that affects your software, then your software can stop working and it is you responsibility to accomodate it with latest changes of dependant software.
It is like: My software is adding image of your family to Google homepage. It is not a bug that it is not adding any photo to Google homepage, because Google homepage was changed by Google. I will still sell my software without informing users that it is not working.
I don’t blame anybody. It is only good-will advice for CCleaner company (althought it will probably not reach them) to inform users when there is any problem (in changelog, news, community phorum…). Like: 28. May 2025 - We have lots of reports that CCleaner is not wiping Chrome history properly. It is caused by latest update of Chrome. We know about it and we are working on a fix which will be available in next update.
It is communication I expected from large companies, companies which are world/country-leading in some industry and have millions of users.
Also, when software has internet connection and can receive latest information (like discounts etc.) not only via updates, there can by this announcment on that function page.
You know, it is better to inform your customers that something is not working that waiting him/her to report it to you or let all your customer each to report it to you when you know about it.
Of course, I don’t know if I am one of a hundred or one of a million who are affected by this incompatibility, but if there is lots of users affected and company know about it, time and problems of lots of people can be spared if they know about it.
For example, if I don’t realize that Chrome history wiping is not working, I have now about 20 thousands history entries on Chrome and I figured out before that this can slow down Chrome.
