I’ve been using CCleaner for over 10 years now. The pro version for a half year. Everthing always work great. But after the updating the version to Ccleaner 7 it no longer works proberly. The browser data will no longer be deleted. I’ve already tried everthing. I have already sent a message to the bugreport. But recieved no response. I don’t see the point of paying for a program that doesn’t work proberly. Can someone help me.
Hello!
I had the same issue. was told they removed it on purpose, is not a bug. So I did a roll back to Version 6.39
There are various threads in this forum that explain how to do that.
It’s just the way that open browser files are now being reported in CCleaner 7.
CCleaner cannot clean files that are open.
In v6 and earlier it would say ‘Skipped’ for open browser files, now in v7 it says ‘Unable to clean’, it’s just the wording that has changed.
Make sure that your browser is closed, and that it (or it’s extensions) are not running in the background.
Also see:
With CCleaner 7 you cannot perform any advanced cleaning if the browser is still open. that was different with V6. so yes, they were closed during the clean up.
the best thing is that it says the history has been successfully deleted in firefox. but nothing would be deleted:
That can happen when a browser is a bit slow to close.
The browser files are open when CCleaner scans, so it says that it cannot clean them, but by the time it comes to clean them they have been closed and so they can be cleaned after all.
(The difference between open and closed may only be a fraction of a second in some cases).
i have now restart my laptop. nothing is open and it still doesn’t work. as i said, with v6 everything ran without problems, even if the browsers was first closed by the cleaner
Thanks for sharing this information.
