Ccleaner says I have an old version of Firefox and running update kept failing. so i deleted the old version and installed the latest version. Ccleaner still thinks I have the old version
What Firefox version do you have?
The latest is v131.0
Open Firefox and go to the hamburger menu > Help >About Firefox
That will tell you if your Firefox is up to date and offer to update it if needed.
PS. You can also check from- the hamburger menu Settings > General (scroll down to Firefox Updates).
If you do it that way you can also tell Firefox to update itself, or give you a notice when there is an update available
I have the latest version, 131.0. CCleaner does not recognize this and keeps bugging me to run the update. What good is a scan if it can’t identify the current version of my program?
Try a ‘Restart’ (not Shut-down) of your device.
Sometimes it needs that before Windows (and so CCleaner) recognises that software has been updated.
CCleaner goes of what version Windows thinks is installed, it doesn’t check what the actual software is, just what Windows says it is.
Thanks for raking the time to write. I had thought of that myself, but tried it again. Sorry to say it did not work. If CCleaner is scanning my computer for outdated programs the question is, where is it looking, getting its info from? Apparently somewhere that was not updated when I deleted the old program and installed the latest 131.0 version.
Sorry I have no idea where it looks.
Is it Health Check or Software Updater that is showing you the Firefox update?
Try using Software Updater and telling it to do a new scan, it may be reporting what it found in an older scan so a new scan might sort it out.
For instance mine is currently showing me yesterdays Patch Tuesday updates that I have already done this morning:
I ‘Scan Again’ and they are gone:
I already tried that. Same result. However I discovered that had I wanted to delete Firefox. they know in that list of programs that that I now have 130.0.1
Well, Its’ annoying butt not holding anything up. I’m ready to let it go. Thanks for your efforts.
Do you mean 131.0.1?
Firefox are pushing out almost daily updates at the moment, mine is now at 131.0.2
That’s 2 Firefox updates since this thread started 4-day ago…
So it may be just that which is causing CCleaner to say there is a new one - there is a new one.
If however you did mean 130.0.1 then for some reason it’s Windows that has the wrong Firefox version number recorded, and that is what CCleaner is seeing.
That would need fixing in Windows. (I’d try running SFC as a first step).
