Ccleaner acts just like malware!

I came here because this program automatically installed when I specifally had updates turned off. Instead of ANY warning, it installed on its own, then restarted my computer all on its own while I was sleeping. This is completely unacceptable. Yes, you CAN call a program MALWARE that displays this kind of behavior. I was running a critical program and running on a VPN. The task didn’t complete, and I was disconnected from the VPN when Ccleaner just up and on its own did this.

I will certainly never use Ccleaner again. I will tell all the people I know to not use it because any program doing what this did overnight IS INDEED ON THE SAME PAR AS MALWARE AND TOOK OVER MY WINDOWS SYSTEM AND FORCED A RESTART WHEN I HAD A CRITICAL PROGRAM RUNNING AND A CRITICAL VPN TURNED ON. All when I had all updates specifially turned off on purpose. I will be VERY LOUD about this online. I’m sitting here shaking my head, and cussing out the idiot devs who programmed this INVASIVE AND UNACCEPTABLE functionality into Ccleaner. I see class action lawsuits against this company in the future LOL.

Everbody should search up the article on freewares dot org, go read this article on the viability of even using Ccleaner at all. Obviously I will not be. Use the search term “What happened to Ccleaner freewares?” (no quotes) and you will find it.

I noticed this as well and it really ticked me off so first thing I did was blocked everything from internet access with Avast firewall. Can use windows firewall as well just a little more complex. Then went into its folder and changed the file names to .bak. Change all the exe’s except the ccleaner.exe itself. bugreport, crashdump, reactivator, 3rdpartyhost, change all of them. Dont understand why they give the option to not auto update then do it anyways.
