cCleaner 7 Installer not resizeable

cCleaner upgraded itself to version 7 this morning.

The installer is gigantic and too big for my 1600 x 900 17" screen so I had to keep scrolling up and down to read it. Why does it not scale properly like Windows programs should? There are no sizing controls either.

When it started to scan it looked nothing like the old version but offered to safely delete about 1600 files.

I stopped it because I had no idea what it was trying to do.

Is there a simple explanation anywhere of how to transition from the old interface, which I have been using since Windows 98, from memory to the new?

Any suggestions please, I have put version 6 back on for now.

I have managed to get the new UI to a reasonable size, as you can see this in on 1280 x 800 at 100% scaling:

I had to grasp the top bar and pull the UI down so that it went off the bottom of the screen.
Then I could grab the top edge and use the resize arrows to pull the top edge down to the minimum.
Pulled the UI back onto the screen and resized the right edge to the minimum.
Closed and reopened CCleaner and it’s still at the minimum size.

There is a Help Button at the bottom of the v7 menu which opens the support window which links to the Help Centre which links to the v7 faqs.
Here’s a quicker link to them: CCleaner Support Community

Many thanks nukecad.

This usually happens when a program is written for one OS then ported to another. If a windows is not re-sizeable then it should be 640x480 (W x H) to ensure it fits on screen.

Hopefully cCleaner are monitoring!

Hi @JeffGaines,
At this time, the CCleaner 7 window is not resizable.
If you’d like to see this feature added to CCleaner 7 in the future, please submit your suggestion via the Ideas Portal, located in the left-hand menu of the application. This helps us gauge interest and prioritize enhancements based on user feedback.

I don’t see this as an enhancement, it is bad programming, a defect that should be rectified.

I just renewed my subscription and the software Updated to 7. After the install a splash screen popped up displaying new features but I can not resize this screen and it is too large, it won’t reduce to let me click Continue to access the program. I am stuck in limbo. This is a major bug. It happened on my laptop too but I was able to turn the laptop sideways and it flipped the CCleaner Splash screen just enough for me to hit the Continue button on the Laptop only. I can not do this with my desktop. How can I fix this? I cant use the program otherwise.

This product is such a joke. How could they make such a rookie mistake like making the window THAT large.

It isn’t a “feature” it is something that is preventing a lot of people from even using the program because the window doesn’t fit in the screen.

On your Desktop computer:
Go into Windows Settings and set the display scale to 100%.
Run CCleaner 7 and get past the Welcome Screen.
Set your display scale back to what it was.

Seriously? Users are expected to reset their computers because the program is written so badly?

Truly ridiculous. Very poor product. This shouldn’t even be an issue. It’s a very rookie mistake.
