CCleaner 7 - Health Check still says it's busy after trying every potential workaround

Hello everyone,

I am new to the forums, this is the first post I am making to contribute to the community.
I have been using CCleaner for a long time. Health Check worked perfectly until yesterday afternoon. Whenever I try to run Health Check, it says “CCleaner is busy with something else” while in fact the app is not busy or doesn’t show busy stat.

I have tried every particular workaround, such as:

  • Terminating CCleaner_service.exe and CCleaner.exe in Task Manager

  • Running the app as admin

  • Temporarily disabling antivirus (I use Avast)

  • Repairing, reinstalling and used offline installer version, same issue

  • Deleting %appdata%, Icarus and temp folders

  • Tweaking the registry

What I have also noticed:

  • Health Check button is sometimes clickable but does nothing.

  • LOG and Setup folders spawn on Desktop only when using portable version.

  • The service always reappears even after deletion attempts/Task Manager termination

  • Firefox session/history cleaning does not work reliably.

How can I restore Health Check, run without “busy” errors, delete the “CCleaner_service” in task manager, and get rid of the Icarus folder?
And most of all, not conflicting with antivirus.

I have spent all night troubleshooting and nothing has helped me.
Is it efficient rolling back to older versions or using the Portable installer?

Any help or known solutions to make Health Check functional as it used to, without Icarus or any other conflicting background service would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

I’m not sure what you keep mentioning Icarus in particular?
It’s a game, so shouldn’t be conflicting with a cleaner.

However many users have already rolled back to CCleaner v6.39.
(2,000 plus v6.39 installer downloads and rising on the below link alone).

For the download link(s) and roll back instructions click this: How to Roll Back from v7 to v6.39

Icarus is part of ccleaner 7

Thanks, i hadn’t noticed that one.

There again I’ve not been looking that deep into 7.
(Hardly worth bothering in it’s current unfinished state).

LOL, Nergal has pointed out that we have found this CCleaner 7 ‘Icarus’ before and identified what it is.

(There’s been a lot to try and remember since CCleaner 7 became the ‘official’ version, and TBH I haven’t really tried to remember it all because it may well change again).

Mine has just started doing the same thing.

Luckily for me, turning the computer off and restarting has fixed it but only for the next time I use it. Then I have to repeat the turn off and restart procedure.

Same thing is happening with me. Tried all fixes but only thing that works is you have to keep signing back into CC Cleaner. Very frustrating.

Managed to speak with a real agent this morning, Have been advised that the Cleanerpeeps are working on a fix but couldnt say when it would be released.
