Since installing CCleaner 7 I have not been able to clean anything system related…
such as
temp files
log files
etc
that and the fact that CCleaner now has a service always running just to access the rest of the features is waste of my system’s RAM… not ok.. and you want me to continue to pay for this?!
Hi, revert back to v6.39 and use the ‘portable’ or keep a copy of the ‘standard’ version in your downloads folder. I can’t insert links here so goggle ‘ccleaner v6:39 Techspot’ and get your copy there. That ccleaner 7 is not good enough for release. What were they thinking - an over excited rush to market?
Yeah, what’s the point of this thing if it doesn’t clean what needs cleaning? It’s bad enough that it doesn’t clean shellbags, folder view history and application history. I’m about a few days from trashing this and trying something else.
I have posted this on other replies too. Sorry for the repeat, but wanted to make sure that management sees our replies.
Hello,
I have purchased a subscription for CCleaner Version 6. Then Version 7.0 was forced upon us. I do not like to complain, but CCleaner Version 7.0 should have never been released. The App is very User unfriendly and does not have a smooth program flow anymore like Version 6 had. I understand that upgrades for Apps are a necessity, but Version 7.0 is a very terrible upgrade. Nothing really works smoothly anymore, the App hangs at times and does not do a reliable job of keeping the computer automatically clean anymore when Windows starts. It is always in your face when having to run it manually at Windows startup. Cookie- and registry management have become terrible too which were the real highlight of Version 6. It almost seems like that people did not know what they were doing during the development of Version 7.0. Where was technical oversight from management in the development of Version 7.0 to make it an outstanding improvement instead of it falling off the cliff backwards? I’m so disappointed. I wish that Version 7.1 or 7.2 will be an improvement of Version 6. Please do completely away with this awkward Version 7.0, bring back Version 6 for the time being and start over. I develop databases, have a high end computer, W11 and have used CCleaner for two decades- until now. Thank you
{Removed by Mod} has a download of v6.39. I uninstalled v7.0 as it is virtually useless, causes numerous glitches on the computer, cannot be trusted and went back to v6.39.
There are various threads here already giving links to the offficial download links for CCleaner v6.39 installers.
The official links were posted so that users do not have to resort to unofficial downloads. (which may be hacked or otherwise tainted).
This is a popular one here on the forum, which has been available for well over a week:
When it gives the warning that unable to clean" it doesn’t mean that all files/entries were unable just one or more. This can be evidenced by opening the details button (circle with three dots) choose show details and click on a number of files listed I guarantee that the explorer window that opens doesn’t have and majority of the skipped files.
Note: I have yet to find a file listed in details not deleted (via random link pressing) so the details may show only cleaned ones, but I doubt it. The entire show-details is kinda unclear as to whether those listed are all items found (mixed clean and not cleaned) or only cleaned or only skipped is unclear.
I’ve put an idea in the ideas board, but it has not surfaced to public view yet.
More testing has led me to my initial thought that the details list is mixed and (as my ideas board post lays out) unmarked which are skipped, and which are cleaned but most are likely cleaned.
